This disease resistant, non-invasive variety blooms a month or more earlier than Sweet Autumn Clematis. A lovely vertical addition to perennial beds, mixed borders, containers, or trellises. Prune back to about 2’ each spring, as ‘Sweet Summer Love’ flowers on new wood. For proper site selection, apply the adage, “Feet in the shade, head in the sun”. Keep roots cool and shaded with mulch, companion plants, or a rock. Cool, moist but well-drained soil is a must. Sun/part shade.
