Itea virginica ‘SMNIVMM’

Sweetspire - Fizzy Mizzy®

An unconventional Itea noted for its numerous, heavenward-shooting white, early summer flower spikes. A neat and tidy habit, in a container and in the garden, she has thick, dark green leaves which contrast nicely with the lightly fragrant, pure white blooms.

Care Tips

Care Tips - Growing:

Itea is one of the most shade tolerant flowering shrubs. Though Scentlandia™ itea was selected for improved stem hardiness, some dieback can occur in cold climates - mulch and/or site in protected areas in zones 5 and 6.

Care Tips - Pruning:

Prune after flowering if desired; remove any dead wood in spring if necessary.

Care Tips - Soil:

Itea thrives in moist to wet soils but is surprisingly tolerant of normal and dry conditions as well - especially once established. Adaptable to pH.

Care Tips - Uses:

Mass plantings; wildlife and woodland gardens; specimen; mixed borders; landscaping. Dwarf habit makes it well-suited to use around the home.
